The Wedding Invitation Suite

Apr 16, 2025
Since there have been weddings there have been wedding invitations. What better way to bring your family and friends into the next step of your life than with a beautifully crafted invitation suite!
There are many different ways to put them together and it can be overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be! Let's dive into the process of crafting the perfect suite for the big day.

The Invitations

Traditional invitations are typically written out with by a calligrapher and etched onto plates for an engraved suite in black ink of fine ecru paper.
But if you're more inclined to something unique, your invitations can be whatever you dream them to be, with thermography raised print, letterpress, foil stamping, in multiple colors, on colored paper, etc. As long as you cover the bases of your event time, date, location, and yours and your future spouse's names you can customize any design that suits your taste and wedding themes!

Reply Cards

These cards are usually intended to be filled out and returned but, with the modern convenience of wedding websites and digital RSVPs, many couples will opt to use the reply card to inform the guests of their wedding website where they may collect their guest count. This is also where you'd indicate your dress code, and, if necessary, ask what food options your guest's prefer. (If you do opt to use a wedding website, we suggest a custom URL for you and your future spouse!)

Inner and Outer Envelopes

Most couples use one envelope with a pretty liner suited for their wedding's theme, maybe even tied together with a fancy schmancy wax seal, but others who wish to dive headfirst into tradition use double envelopes.

The outer will have written or printed the recipient(s) and their address while the inner envelope bears the title and last names of the specific people invited as well as any other guests living in the same home that will not be receiving individual invitations. The outer envelopes are used as a kind of protective measure for your inner envelope, which could have a liner and a wax seal, keeping those safe from scuffs and postmarks.

The etiquette for these can be intimidating so we've made a handy guide:
